Downloadable information on how to make the positive offer of an entitlement and opportunity to gain a national qualification

We can all help learners to achieve their potential by improving their literacy and numeracy skills and gaining a national qualification. Thanks to the Move On programme, people are moving away from the negative focus on identifying people who have needs and instead making a more positive offer of an entitlement and opportunity to gain a national qualification. Has your organisation made the most of the opportunity to train everyone in doing this?

Recruiter/signposter training has played a big part in giving people the understanding and language to do this effectively. By May 2007, Move On had trained some 40,000 recruiters and provided a cascade model with resources for further training. More than 290,000 learners have benefited so far. The approach works! The recruiter training materials are available to download from the Move On web site.

Many stakeholders realise that there are still a lot of people who haven’t had the benefit of this training and a number who would benefit from a refresher. We have responded to this need by developing a Move On Guide for intermediaries, which can be used as an aide memoire for those who have already benefited from training or as a self-access, blended training module when used in conjunction with this section of the web site.

Copies of the You have the Power guide can be ordered from DIUS Publications (tel. 0845 60 222 60). The order reference is SFLMO-GUIDE. The maximum number of copies per order is 15.

If you want to explore the idea of having a customised version of the guide, please get in touch with Ruth Rijk (ruth.rijk@tribalgroup.co.uk).

We wish you every success in using the guide and in the successful engagement of prospective Skills for Life learners.
